Choice & Competition form of test for reforming the regulatory framework right

Well, given that the Texas legislative session is underway and preparations for elections in the speech of insurance reform in Texas, moderates, the scene is for the legislature, the difficult decisions needed to resolve the current crisis insurance.

The questions that remain largely the trade, such as insurance regulators will change, and will be affected? If a competitive model for the two phrases and forms, or if the transition to a prior authorization system costly for everyone?

Legislators have the opportunity to push forward reforms that lead to long-term price stability, increased competition and greater choice for consumers, or they may be an insurance reform eternal problem for consumers and state legislators.

It is in any case, the Insurance Regulatory System in Texas is defective and must be repaired. Consumers are quite rightly infuriated by increasing the slope of their owners insurance premiums and reducing the number of companies to sell new policies. The members of the legislative body, meets the demand constituent, have promised a wide range of reforms of insurance. And a wide range of businesses, such as brokers, insurers, bankers and owners also take responsibility for changing how politics and regulated prices.

– Each of consumers, public policy makers and the economy wants the same results. We all want affordable, more confident and more types of insurance, among which to choose. We want most of all policies undertaken by writing to the State. Finally, we all want a regulatory system that stimulant, but rather as a brake, competition in the marketplace and ensures that insurance prices are fair.

The current regime provides a clear example of what is wrong and that regulation rigid forms, the choices for consumers and lead to large losses. It shows how fraud can enter the system and increasing the severity of claims. And it is an example for the negative role that the lawyers can play in the market.

Each proposal must be the reform of improvements in the current environment. Consumers may benefit, select the policy that best fits their needs and budget reports. Larger freedom of policy choices and more competition among insurers reflects a decline in insurance premiums for consumers. That is why we believe it is important that all regulatory reforms should also provide an incentive for insurance companies to write policies in the state.

Of course, regulatory authorities play an important role to play in promoting a healthy and competitive insurance market. Consumers must have confidence that the price they pay for insurance is fair and that their insurance company to pay all future rights. The regulatory authorities must be of the Authority, to ensure that reasonable prices are not exaggerated, unfair and non-discriminatory. However, the bureaucratic control of insurance prices or regulations, includes companies adapting to changes in the market only to serve the competition, restrict choice for consumers, and derive the cost of coverage .
