New Mexico Champs LifeSmarts national title taking the second consecutive year.
Students at the team Piedra Vista High School, Farmington, New Mexico LifeSmarts were crowned national champions at their second consecutive year in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday. In a difficult final against the second place team from Tennessee, New Mexico Teens outscored their opponents and did so with great sportsmanship. Teams from New York and Washington State in third place.
“We are so proud of this return winner of New Mexico,” said program director Lisa Hertzberg LifeSmarts. “They played hard and were so respectful of their opponents. LifeSmarts are real masters.
LifeSmarts is a program by the State of Washington, DC-based National Consumers League (NCL), the oldest nation in favour of consumers. It competitive tests High School students knowledge of consumer awareness, with themes such as personal finance, health and safety, consumer rights and responsibility, technology and environment.
“NCL’s LifeSmarts program allows us to the rear of a generation of consumers experienced adolescent, often outsmart their parents in matters relating to fraud prevention, loans and debts, and complex health care decisions,” said Linda Golodner president of NCL. Within seven years, NCL has run the LifeSmarts program, it was dramatic. The programme of the new extension brings the curriculum at school, classrooms in the middle of this fall.
At the awards ceremony, New Mexico’s coach NCL thanked Ann George, congratulated his team competition, honour and members of his team. Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Protection Commissioner responsible H. Charles Bronson congratulated the state champion teams and wished them good luck in his pursuit of academic and career.
