Senate Committee means new passport rules

Congress made the first step towards the revision of the nation, the civil liability system Thursday when the Senate Judiciary Committee, by an overwhelming majority of laws, devolution of most class action complaints of State to justice the federal courts.

The Committee approved 13 to 5 to approve the action and send it to the full Senate, where they are considered as early as Monday.

But as a Republican welcomed the rapid adoption of the action, a trial of strength seemed interesting to be developed between Senator Arlen Specter, Republican of Pennsylvania, recently elected chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the majority guide, Bill Frist of Tennessee.

The two men staked out opposing positions on an amendment that are available, when the action reaches the Senate floor. Business groups say that the amendment would have the effect of gutting the bill, and consumer associations and some say Democrats and Republicans, the interaction is crucial, because it would allow many meritorious complaints that otherwise are killed Under the legislation to move forward.

Mr. Specter said Thursday morning that he supports the amendment to be proposed by Senator Jeff Bingaman, Democrat of New Mexico. Dr. time said he hoped the legislation would, without modifications.

White House officials and Republican leaders in Congress said she hoped that the rapid adoption of the measure, the political dynamic on two other proposed amendments to the crimes. These measures, which are more questionable, new limits for medical and litigation found that people say they have asbestos poisoning from filing complaints. Instead, they would ask a special allowance of confidence.

The class action legislation should be approved, because relatively quickly enough Democrats and a Filibuster can not block. Arrangements were by an overwhelming majority in the plenary in June last year, the stalemate, but the Senate.

During the hearing Thursday, some fans of the action of Democrats trailers.
